Lindy Biechler:1975, Lancaster, Pennsylvania

  


 Lindy Sue Biechler was 19 in 1975. She worked at a Lancaster, Pennsylvania florist's shop. Lindy dreamed of owning her own floral shop one day. 


  Her husband of 15 months, Phil Biechler, was studying art and working his way through college. 


  Lindy entered her apartment at 104 Kloss Drive with bags of groceries in hand on December 5th, 1975 when a killer attacked her in her kitchen. She was stabbed dozens of times and died there on her kitchen floor. The killer also sexually assaulted her after her death. He left behind DNA evidence of this assault. 


  Lindy was found by relatives of hers who had stopped by. The shock must have been terrible. Those relatives’ screams alerted neighbors who called the police. 


  Phil, Lindy’s husband of only 15 months, was called at work and told to come home. He was informed there about Lindy having been viciously attacked and killed. Phil said he did not remember much about the next few days. His family took him home and he was sedated at first. The funeral later followed. Lindy was buried. 


  In the next years, Phil shared an apartment with his sister while they both went to college. Phil moved on with his art. He married again and was basically in his retirement years. 


 Police investigating Lindy’s murder had not given up. The case had been passed down. But recently investigators had not only the technology but also the funding. 



  In 2023, that DNA evidence was linked to David Sinopoli. He was arrested, convicted and sentenced. He is serving that sentence now. David was born in 1954. He had attended the same middle school as Lindy Biechler but not the same high school. He lived in the apartment above her and her husband at the time of the murder. 


  After the murder he lived a seemingly normal life. Investigators followed him to the airport and snagged a piece of trash that he threw away. He had a beverage and threw away the container. They used his DNA on that item to develop his DNA profile. 

 

  His DNA matched the DNA in the semen that was left on Lindy Biechler back in 1975. 


  Upon sentencing Sinopoli told Phil Biechler that he was sorry. Phil commented that he believed Sinopoli was only sorry that he got caught. I agree. 


  My question is always what else did David Sinopoli do? Where else did he live? Where else did he work? Can he be connected to any other Lancaster area cold cases? Lindy’s case is solved but are there other cold cases still waiting to be solved?

         One thing about writing something and publishing it on the internet is that people reach out with feedback. 51:Brenda Ginter:1975, North Judson, Indiana

        Brenda Lou Ginter was born on October 20th, 1952. She grew up in Lake Station, Indiana. It’s a town very close to Gary, Indiana. It appears almost like a neighborhood of Gary, Indiana on the map. Brenda’s parents were Joseph Ginter and Esther (Scalf) Ginter. She had three brothers and a sister.  Joanana Ida Ginter was born in 1931. Joseph Junior was born in 1935. The two other brothers and Brenda came along later. I am not sure but I think Brenda and Dennis were twins. They were in the same class in high school. I found an Edison High School 1969 yearbook and they are together in the Junior Class. Brenda and Dennis would have graduated from high school in 1970.    Brenda was pretty with dark brown hair. Laurie Jo Lopez and Gerald E. Bunche III: 1975, Gary

    On the evening of April 6th, 1975, two teenagers went on a date. The eighteen year olds were Laurie and Gerald. They borrowed Laurie’s Mom’s car.  It should have been a fun night out. But, the two teens never made it home.    Laurie Jo Lopez graduated from Kankakee Valley High. She lived southeast of Gary, Indiana at 10 Windsor Drive, outside of Demotte, Indiana.    Gerald Ellsworth Bunche III was born on January 3rd 1957. He went to Lew Wallace High in Gary and lived at 1145 Whitcomb Street. He was the son of Erdell and Gerald Bunche Jr.  He was an active highschool kid. He played basketball and was pretty good.    Laurie Lopez was the daughter of Frank Lopez. Her mother’s name is not known to me.
