Kathy Lynn Gloddy:1971, Franklin, New Hampshire

  

   Kathy Lynn Gloddy was born on February 13th, 1958. She was almost a Valentine's Day baby. 


  Kathy lived in Franklin, New Hampshire. It’s a small town north of Concord, New Hampshire. 


  On Sunday, November 21st, 1971, Kathy Lynn Gloddy left home to make a trip to a convenience store. She purchased ice cream and potato sticks and walked toward the local high school in Franklin, New Hampshire. Maybe that was the local hangout for teens in Franklin. Thanksgiving was coming up on the 25th. Probably there was a feeling of the approaching Holidays in the air. Maybe a lot of teens and older young adults were hanging out there? 


 13 year old Kathy Lynn Gloddy did not make it home that day.  


  The following day, on Monday November 22nd, 1971 Kathy Lynn Gloddy was found off Webster Street. That is now called Chance Pond Road. There’s a local swimming hole in the area. But, in November it would probably have been an isolated area. 



  Kathy had suffered a violent attack. Her killer had beaten her, sexually assaulted her, strangled her and run over her  body repeatedly with an automobile. The killer wanted to make sure she could not talk. 


  Who did this? 


  Sometimes, in those days, the killer was a soldier home on leave. Vietnam Vets deserve our respect. They survived a terrible war. But, some of them came back with psychological damage. Some came back with an affinity for rape and murder. I don’t want to paint all Vietnam Veterans with a broad brush. The violent and dangerous men are not the majority. But, in many cases I have written about; there are quite a few women and girls who were murdered in the 1960’s and 1970’s by Vietnam Veterans. 



  There was also a motorcycle gang in the area at the time called the “Die Hard” gang. 


 In 1973 they committed the rape of a teenager named Wanda Graham. Before Wanda could testify against them; she was murdered on February 1st 1974. Wanda Graham was only 18.  

  The rape trial proceeded even though Wanda was now deceased. Two men were found guilty of the rape of Wanda: John Colby (21) and Raymond Martineau (23). The two men were members of the Die Hard motorcycle gang. 


  Later, the murder trial would also take place.


  Three men had been arrested for Wanda's murder: John Tanguay, Leonard Tierney, and Larry Simmons. All were members of the Die Hard motorcycle gang. Did any of these men rape and murder Kathy Lynn Gloddy? 


   Perhaps this was a local killer in Franklin instead? Is there someone in Franklin still keeping this dark secret?


  Kathy was only thirteen years old when someone cruelly ended her life. Someone or some group took her to that second location. They sexually assaulted this child. They beat her. They strangled her and ran over her with a vehicle.


  If Kathy went out for a snack of ice cream and then walked towards the high school, it was likely a nice day out. Did a group of the Die Hard motorcycle gang members go out for a ride? They lived in the Manchester area but they might have headed North for a ride. It’s only 43 minutes away. Do investigators know for sure that it was a car that repeatedly ran over Kathy? Could it have been several motorcycles? 


  In 2006, a man named Edward Dukette came forward saying that he had information. He had a prior history of serving time for raping and nearly killing a different young girl. He died in 2009. Several points in his story did not line up with what had happened to Kathy Lynn Gloddy. Investigators don't think he was actually connected.


  Her family is still searching for answers. Kathy was only 13 and had so much living left to do. She should still be here. 


  We have the technology now to find DNA from the tiniest samples.  Cold cases are getting solved everyday.

         One thing about writing something and publishing it on the internet is that people reach out with feedback. 51:Brenda Ginter:1975, North Judson, Indiana

        Brenda Lou Ginter was born on October 20th, 1952. She grew up in Lake Station, Indiana. It’s a town very close to Gary, Indiana. It appears almost like a neighborhood of Gary, Indiana on the map. Brenda’s parents were Joseph Ginter and Esther (Scalf) Ginter. She had three brothers and a sister.  Joanana Ida Ginter was born in 1931. Joseph Junior was born in 1935. The two other brothers and Brenda came along later. I am not sure but I think Brenda and Dennis were twins. They were in the same class in high school. I found an Edison High School 1969 yearbook and they are together in the Junior Class. Brenda and Dennis would have graduated from high school in 1970.    Brenda was pretty with dark brown hair. Laurie Jo Lopez and Gerald E. Bunche III: 1975, Gary

    On the evening of April 6th, 1975, two teenagers went on a date. The eighteen year olds were Laurie and Gerald. They borrowed Laurie’s Mom’s car.  It should have been a fun night out. But, the two teens never made it home.    Laurie Jo Lopez graduated from Kankakee Valley High. She lived southeast of Gary, Indiana at 10 Windsor Drive, outside of Demotte, Indiana.    Gerald Ellsworth Bunche III was born on January 3rd 1957. He went to Lew Wallace High in Gary and lived at 1145 Whitcomb Street. He was the son of Erdell and Gerald Bunche Jr.  He was an active highschool kid. He played basketball and was pretty good.    Laurie Lopez was the daughter of Frank Lopez. Her mother’s name is not known to me.
