Donna Jean Hudson:1972, Columbus, Ohio

Donna Jean Jarvis was born on April 23rd, 1952. I wasn’t able to find out much about her early life.

She married Robert Hudson when she was a teenager and they had three children, Chrissy, Donna and Bobby Gene.

Donna Jean Hudson was only 20 years old when she was brutally raped and strangled on Tuesday, September 5th, 1972, while her children were forced to watch in her west side Columbus, Ohio home.

Her daughter, Chrissy was five then. Her middle child, Donna, was almost three and the baby, Bobby Gene, was only 19 months old. One can only imagine the trauma they endured.

Her husband, Robert, 26, discovered Donna Jean’s body and the traumatized children when he came home from work.

This was 1972. Was Donna Hudson’s case related to the 1974 Columbus rape and murder of Jill Ellen Cull? Could this be the same perpetrator?

Before Jill Cull was abducted and murdered she had accused a man of rape. He was released prior to the trial. Then Jill was found assaulted and murdered. The man that Jill Ellen Cull had accused of rape actually had a long history of raping young women in the Columbus, Ohio area. He had rape convictions in 1969 and 1970 and many other accusations. His name was not released in the newspaper. I did go back to the 1969 and 1970 newspapers but nothing stood out. Those crimes and convictions may not have been reported in the paper. I wonder if his name is in any police files about Jill’s case?

At the time of Jill’s discovery the suspect had 12 sex related charges pending in Franklin County, Ohio and 2 in Delaware County.  Who was he?

Is this murder related to the murder of 1980 Lynn Vest and her toddler nephew Jeremy Pickens? Could this rapist have been trying to recreate Donna Jean Hudson’s 1972 assault with a child as a witness?

Is Donna Jean Hudson’s murder related to the 1981 murder of Janice Beidleman and her infant son Brandon Beidleman? Again, a woman was assaulted and murdered and her child was also murdered. All in Columbus.  All of these cases are unsolved.
