David Evans:1975, Boardman, Ohio

David Evans was born on January 3rd, 1960 to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Evans. The family lived in Boardman, Ohio.

David was a diabetic and required daily insulin shots. He had just turned 15 three days before his disappearance.

His father, Peter, was driving to an appointment on January 6th, 1975 and saw David headed toward home. He said David was very close to home at that point. David was wearing blue jeans and a plaid jacket.

David Evans never arrived home that day.

He was found in a pile of snow in a parking lot on January 23rd, 1975.  Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McCall were realtors and had just left their office when they spotted a shoe protruding from a pile of snow in a shopping center parking lot. They called the Boardman police.

Large piles of snow in parking lots are a common sight in the Midwest in Winter. After a big snowfall, the parking lots are cleared by snow shovel trucks and the snow is piled up on the edge of the lot in various places.

At first David’s death was believed to be accidental. Investigators and others thought he had suffered some sort of diabetes related incident. He was still dressed in the same clothes his father had seen him wearing on January 6th, 1975. But, medical examiners found a large puncture wound on his back. David Evans had been murdered.

The murder of David Evans is still unsolved.

He may be a victim of Joseph Norman Hill.  Joseph Norman Hill lived on Shadyside Drive in Boardman, Ohio. He drove a delivery truck for a bottled water company. He was a seemingly average married family man.

In 1978 Joseph Norman Hill moved to San Bernardino County, California. He moved 14 times while living in California. He died in 2019.

In 2022, DNA and genetic genealogy techniques would be used to track down the killer of a young boy named Brad Lee Bellino. That killer would be none other than Joseph Norman Hill.

On March 31st, 1972 Brad Lee Bellino was sexually assaulted and strangled with a belt. He was left in a dumpster behind an Isaly’s dairy store in a shopping center in Boardman, Ohio. (The spot was incredibly close to where David Evans was found in 1975.)

Investigators believe that Joseph Norman Hill may be responsible for more murders in the Boardman and Youngstown, Ohio area and in and around San Bernardino County, California.

On December 3rd, 1970, Thomas Baird was found on Lake Park Road, badly beaten with most of his clothing “torn off”. He passed away on December 13th, 1970, only regaining consciousness once. He was unable to speak with investigators.

In the only article specifically about David Evans’ murder, other missing boys are mentioned but their names were left out.

If you have information about the murder of David Evans or information about Joseph Norman Hill or information about other missing boys please call investigators at (330) 726-4144.
