Carol Faye Taylor:1976, Akron, Ohio

   

  Carol Faye Taylor was born in Lima, Ohio in 1959. She was the daughter of Rosa Lee Taylor and Andrew James Taylor. They had a big family with 8 daughters and one son. 

   Carol was 17 and was the mother of two young sons, Cheyenne and Charles. They lived at 191 North Street in Akron, Ohio. 

  Carol has such a lovely smile in her photo. She looks bright, bubbly and fashionable. 

  Carol Faye Taylor was a teenager in Ohio in 1976.   

  Sadly, Ohio was a very dangerous place in the 1970’s. You might think about Ohio and think about lots of green farmland and idyllic countryside scenes. And those scenes are true but Ohio also had a very big murder problem in the 1970’s and 80’s. 

  I wasn’t able to find when Carol was last seen or when she was reported missing. 

  Carol was found in the woods behind the Roadway Express motel. That was located 300 yards north of 498 Baltimore in Akron, Ohio. Carol was located there on November 20th, 1976. 

 

   Her cause of death was not immediately apparent. She had scratches but no obvious wounds. The few news articles that covered her case are not very detailed. I am thinking that strangling may have been the cause of death. Perhaps there were marks on her neck that weren’t easily seen. But, that is just a guess. 


  Who could have done this to Carol in November of 1976? Larry Ralston was abducting, assaulting and strangling women in 1976 in Ohio. In 19

   Ralph Howell was also a rapist who abducted, raped and strangled victims. He would coax them into accepting a ride from him. He would pretend to be a really nice guy. As soon as they were in the vehicle; he would loop a prepared piece of rope around their necks and strangle them 

  It can’t be Eugene William Gall Jr. in this case because he was still incarcerated for other rapes. He was in custody from December 15, 1970 through April 12, 1977. He was supposed to serve a sentence of 10-30 years but served less than seven. He went on to murder at least 2 girls, Beth Ann Mote and Lisa Janson before his capture in April of 1978


  Carol deserved a long life with her two young sons. She deserves to still be here.

I think that might be a central reason why he killed.       After he strangled and stabbed his co-worker, Stephanie Wagner, in 2006; he went to work the very next day. He walked right into that restaurant like nothing was wrong.  I think he wanted to be there to witness the reactions people would have when the calls started coming asking if anyone had seen Stephanie. I think he liked seeing the devastation.    After he shot Nellie Mikesells through her window in the fall of 1974, he broke into her home. He didn’t steal anything.
