Cindy Rader:1975, Dayton, Ohio
Cindy Lou Price was born in 1957. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Price. By age 17 she was married and her new name was Cindy Lou Rader. She and her husband Greg lived at 330 E. Lincoln Street in Dayton.
On January 3rd, 1975 someone followed Cindy Lou Rader as she walked to work. They also might have simply been driving by and saw her. There’s a great deal of impulse control issues with these 1970’s killers.
They abducted her and stabbed her to death in vacant house at 20 Pulaski Street in Dayton, Ohio. She had really only walked around the corner from her home. This seems like a local perpetrator. He saw an opportunity and took it. I did not find any mention of sexual assault but it does seem very likely that was the motivation in this case.
Who could have done this?
It’s not Eugene William Gall Jr. He was still incarcerated for a series of abductions, rapes and robberies in and around Lima. He committed most of those in 1970 and was in custody from December 15th 1970 to April 12th 1977. He then abducted, raped and murdered Beth Ann Mote in October of 1977 and later abducted, raped and murdered Lisa Janson in April of 1978. He was apprehended by Kentucky authorities after a shootout in which Gall killed a police officer.
The killer might possibly be Larry Ralston. Most of his known murders occurred in the Cincinnati area. Some are thought to have occurred in Kentucky. But, Dayton is not a long drive away from Cincinnati. Did he have family or friends in Dayton? Did he have some reason to be there? Perhaps. Maybe he was visiting family or friends there for the holidays. Perhaps he went to a New Years Party or some other event. If there’s anything in an evidence locker somewhere…he is who I would want to test.
Dayton is not that far from Cincinnati where Ralston lived in 1975.
Ralph Richard Howell is a possible suspect but this doesn’t fit his usual pattern of offering a woman a ride, strangling and sexually assaulting them. Killers don’t always follow strict patterns though.
Who else could it be? Was there someone who was suspected at the time?
How were things going in her life? Was there someone at work or someone in the neighborhood who may have been stalking Cindy Rader?
Cindy Lou Rader had her whole life ahead of her. She deserved to live it.
