Jennifer Judy:1969, Cincinnati
Jennifer Judy was born in 1951. She grew up in California. In the late 1960’s she moved to Cincinnati. First she stayed with family but later wanted to live independently. She was staying at a residence for young women in Cincinnati. She was looking forward to working, going to school and making a life for herself.
Jennifer was walking down the street on Tuesday February 11th, 1969 when she was spotted by a predator. He forced her into a doorway. The killer attempted to rape her. Her pants and underwear were partially pulled down. When he grew frustrated he stabbed her in the chest and fled.
Jennifer was found around 9 p.m. in the doorway of the Earl Building.
To me this crime has all the hallmarks of a Eugene William Gall Jr. murder. He was reckless, brazen, impulsive and violent. He already had a history at that point of being a “peeping tom”. He stalked women in North Carolina while in the military and was arrested there on July 6th 1964. The arrest prompted the military to send him to Portsmouth Receiving Hospital for a time.
He said it himself much later: “all impulse. I see a girl walking down the street. Bam-that’s it.”
In 1969 he lived in Middletown, Ohio with his wife and son. He worked at Armco Steel for a time and also managed the Midtonia Apartments. He also drove elderly people to doctor’s appointments for a little extra cash.
In February 1969, Jennifer Judy was murdered in Cincinnati. In September of 1970 Jeanne Marie Melville was raped and murdered near Arcanum, Ohio. In October of 1970, Arletta Sue Remley was raped and murdered in Connersville, Indiana. All of those locations are a short drive from Middletown.
In December of 1970, Eugene William Gall Jr. was arrested for a serious of abductions, rapes, and robberies around Lima, Ohio. He served only a few years of his decades long sentence. He was released on April 12th, 1977.
In October of 1977 he abducted, raped and murdered Beth Ann Mote. He stabbed her in the chest. He had driven an elderly friend to a Dayton doctor’s appointment and rather than wait in the office he went out looking for a victim.
In early 1978 he abducted, raped and murdered Lisa Janson. She was abducted on her walk to school in Cincinnati. He was caught shortly after murdering Lisa that day after an armed robbery prompted a shootout with police.
He did a lot of driving around trolling for victims. How did he finance that? Can other armed robberies and perhaps murders of gas station attendants be attributed to Gall as well? I wonder if ballistics or fingerprint evidence still exists in any of those cases?
It’s my opinion that he murdered far more than just the two girls that he was convicted of killing. Gall is currently serving a life sentence in Ohio.
Was evidence preserved in Jennifer’s case? Can that evidence be tested?
Jennifer Judy deserved a long and happy life. She deserved to grow up and figure out what she wanted out of life. Her family and friends deserve answers.
