Audrey Evers Pugh:1956,Cincinnati, Ohio

Image
Audrey Evers was born on May 24th 1921 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Adelaide and Hilary Evers. She had a brother named William.     Audrey Evers married William Pugh in December of 1951 when she was 30 and he was 29. He owned a successful printing business that had been in his family for generations. The couple took a honeymoon trip to the West Indies.     The couple lived at 2752 Hill and Hollow Lane in Cincinnati. Audrey Pugh was described as quiet and very spiritual. She was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner at St. Mary’s.       Easter Sunday 1956 was on April first, also known as April Fool’s Day. It almost seems like a bad omen or a sign. I don’t necessarily believe in that. But, a fiction writer could have a field day with that detail.     On Wednesday morning of April 11th, 1956, Audrey Evers Pugh was at home alone. William was at work.   ...

Phyllis Jean “Jeannie” Bailer, 1972, Huntertown, Indiana

Image
Phyllis Jean Miller was born on July 13th, 1945 to Leona and George Miller. She grew up in Bluffton, Indiana.      She went by Jeannie. She married Richard Bailer after high school in May of 1966. In 1972, she was the mother of a two year old girl. Jeannie worked at a law office.    26 year old Phyllis Bailer was driving to see her parents on Friday July 7th, 1972. They were to have a nice weekend visit. More than likely they would celebrate Phyllis Jean’s birthday. But, Phyllis never made it to the home of her parents that day. When she didn’t arrive as expected her parents called police to report her and her daughter missing.    She and her husband, Richard Bailer,  had separated. Their divorce was a few months away from being finalized at the time. Her parents called Richard and he started driving toward her parent’s home searching for his wife and daughter. He found Jeannie’s car on th...

Tracy Sue Walker:1978, Elk Valley, Tennessee

Image
Tracy Sue Walker was born on June 2nd, 1963. She grew up in Lafayette, Indiana. She lived on Eisenhower Court with her mother. Eisenhower Court is a short road off Eisenhower drive on the Northeast side of Lafayette.  It’s very close to I-65. Eisenhower Court lies along an oxbow of Wildcat Creek. Each house would have a view of the creek and a thick woods lies behind the homes. It seems like a really nice place to grow up if you enjoyed playing in the creek and the woods.     She was last seen by a friend at the Tippecanoe Mall in Lafayette in 1978. It’s not clear if that last sighting is the actual day she disappeared.     In 1985, skeletal remains were found in Elk Valley, Tennessee by someone who was foraging for poke weed. Poke weed was often eaten by people in Appalachia as a way to get vitamins and minerals. People still eat it today.     The area where she was found was wooded and remo...
